Magento → Shopify replatform
I move your Magento store to Shopify. I build the staging store, move the products, customers and order history, and run the cutover. Magento stays live until you accept the new store.
Three routes
The smallest change that removes the cost and the risk is the right one. I tell you which one I think it is after the inventory.
Magento is not the real problem. Patch the version, cut the extension list, and fix the slow pages. Stay where you are.
Much less than a replatform. I write the repair list and I do the work. Scoped in writing after the inventory.
You want off Magento. I build the Shopify store, move the products, customers and orders, own the redirects and run the cutover with you.
Scoped in writing after the inventory.
Standard Shopify does not fit your trade price tiers, your ERP or your storefront. That is a project, not a move. I scope it the same way.
More than a Shopify theme build, and it takes longer. Scoped as a project, in writing, after the inventory.
Who does the work
Scope
The process
I run every step. Your team supplies the store knowledge, approves the scope and reviews the acceptance result.
You and I agree what is in scope, the decisions, the acceptance tests, and who signs each one.
Output: A written scope and a set of control rules.
I count the products, customers, orders, extensions, integrations and indexed URLs. You mark what the business cannot lose.
Output: A store inventory, a risk list and my route recommendation.
I open the staging store, build the theme, install the agreed apps, and set up payments, tax and shipping.
Output: A staging store that matches the approved scope.
I run scripted loads for products, then customers, then order history. I check every load by count against Magento.
Output: A staging store with counted products, customers and orders.
I build the redirect map and test it on staging. I run payment, tax and shipping test orders. You review the staging store and send one consolidated list.
Output: A complete redirect file, an acceptance checklist and the acceptance fixes.
I record the rollback point, move DNS, and check the live store. Then I transfer the store ownership and the accounts to you.
Output: A live store, store ownership in your name, and an editor guide.
Safeguards
A replatform puts your search results, your order data and your launch date at risk. Here is what holds each one down.
Questions
I do. One person runs the inventory, the staging store, the theme, the data move, the redirects and the cutover. If a job needs a named specialist, the written scope names them before work starts.
Yes. I build the new Shopify store on a separate address. Magento takes orders until you accept the new store. Cutover is a DNS change, and I record the rollback point first.
The inventory sets the dates, and they go in the written scope. Magento remains live until you accept the new store.
Every Magento URL changes, so the 301 map is the main control. I own that map, test it on staging, and check the top redirects after launch. Search results can move after a URL change. I cannot guarantee rankings.
No. Magento and Shopify hash passwords differently. Every customer resets through an activation email at cutover. Support contacts go up that week, so we plan the cover in the scope.
I import orders through the Shopify Order API, after products and customers. I check the totals by count against Magento. Imported orders are records, not live transactions, so you cannot refund against them.
They do not transfer. Each one becomes a Shopify app, a Shopify Function, or nothing at all. I audit them in the inventory, and the decisions go in the scope before the build.
The inventory lists the Magento costs that can end. It also lists the Shopify plan, app, payment and support costs that replace them. A third-party gateway adds a Shopify fee on top.
The inventory tests customer-group pricing, checkout requirements, multi-store needs and API load before a Shopify plan is chosen.
Eight years of agency delivery, CMS sites in it, and a full-stack product rebuild I lead today. On a replatform the control is the same discipline. I count the data, test the redirects, run test orders, and accept against the written map.
You do. A Shopify store has one owner, and that owner is you. I keep collaborator access only, and you remove it whenever you want.
Send the Magento URL, your catalogue size and the systems the store connects to. I will come back with what I see, which of the three routes fits, and what the move involves.
